DFM ANNOUNCES LAYOFFS
Guild Members,
Late last Thursday evening the Guild was notified that Digital First had planned to announce 7 layoffs of Guild members across our 4 papers on Friday, December 12. Sadly, this comes only months after profit sharing checks were issued, and as we start to prepare for coordinated bargaining across the cluster as our contracts expire in March of 2016. We will continue to monitor the situation to make sure all contracts are followed with regards to a reduction in force, and will remind the employer as bargaining begins, we have done our fair share to help right this ship, and there will be no further concessions or extensions. It’s time for this employer to treat their employees fairly. If content is truly king, then why continue to gut our 4 papers?
