GUILD WINS 10TH STRAIGHT ARBITRATION. ROC ORGANIZER REINSTATED.
Some of you may not know that our local of the Newspaper Guild represents staff members of the Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC) in a number of cities around the country.
We got word yesterday that in our first arbitration against ROC – which a few months ago agreed to one of the top contracts for a non-profit in the country – that Washington DC organizer Yasemin Ayarci had been unfairly terminated. Yasemin received 6 months of back wages and medical benefits and was reinstated immediately. Guild attorney Neal Goldstein of Freedman & Lorry is now 10-for-10 in arbitrations.
